Artificial Intelligence is not the absolute solution, but surely disruptive to work processes. People have talked about for ages how AI will take our jobs and at this point it seems obvious to everyone, but where does this concept really apply?
Many aspects are already being affected, like how we create content where auto-text and image generating is out now commercially in a freemium model, but also solving different complex problems in society – I think there’s a huge application for medical diagnosis like identifying cancer for example. In business, if you’re an owner and you look for profit maximization, most of the time you have the raw data but no computational or time resource to come up with decisions that would increase profitability.
Simply put, AI is just pulling data and giving you what you need, but now services have popped up with deepfake (more like super realistic) voice and video.
The internet was already a major player in misinformation. One person sharing fake news is enough: by the end of the day, most of their Facebook friends will be talking about it. Now with deepfakes, at some point it will go out of hand.
Social media i.e. Instagram, some time ago, introduced fact-checkers, where news posts from highly viewed pages had a tab underneath stating whether each post was factually correct or not along with the name of the reviewing agency. Although meme pages for obvious reasons were not a fan of this, it seems now that every post would need some sort of certification, because a few years from now, you won’t be able to tell if your friend is actually out sipping coconuts at the beach with Elon Musk. Between what is “deepfaked” and what was actually captured, there will be a time when the human eye or ear won’t be able to decipher this. The pixels and wavelengths will have to be judged by AI. It’s not going to be Humans vs AI (for now), but a war between these two AI models – not just in terms of fakes but in all other aspects, too: AI trying to hack a system vs Cybersecurity AI identifying ways to block it, stock market manipulation, monopolies & price/demand control and what not.
The list goes on, but the winner will have the more efficient dataset.
